Duplex stainless steels have a structure that combines the austenitic with the ferritic, resulting in a metal that has significantly higher tensile strength and resistance to corrosion. BS Stainless supply a range of components made using duplex stainless steel: these components are widely used in offshore oil and gas applications, as well as in other situations where chlorides are present (such as in the marine environment). Two of the most common grades of duplex stainless steel are 1.4462 and 1.4482.
